Congratulations to Johnathan Kovacevic from our Minor Midget AAA team who was drafted to the Niagara Ice Dogs in the 12th Round this past weekend in the OHL Priority Draft.  The Niagara Falls AAA Zone wishes him continued success in his future endeavours!   Additional congratulations to 3 former Niagara Falls AAA Zone players who were also selected in the 2013 OHL draft;   Jared Marino, Jack Webb & Mitchell Webb

Message from the President

The following is an information bulletin that has resulted from lengthy discussions and research into the subject matter.

As most of our members are aware or at least should be aware of, there are certain rules that are in place in relation to receiving an F1 Waiver to play in another centre.

There are very specific circumstances within the rules whereby the family can exercise their rights pertaining to “residency moves”. This being said there have been those that have exploited these rules to circumvent the residency clause in order to play in a center of their choosing.

With this in mind, the Home Center has the option of either proving or disproving the legitimacy of the move. If sufficient evidence is garnered to show that it was merely a “Hockey Move” as opposed to a marital separation for example, then the player would have to return to his home center to play.

It has been agreed upon by the executive to retain the services of a Private Investigative firm who will be contracted to perform such duties as deemed necessary by the executive when and if these situations arise.

It was decided to post this message so that everyone is on the same page when it comes to combating these incidents and to know that the Association will do whatever it has to in order to prove the illegitimacy of these moves to the OMHA.

The Niagara Falls AAA Zone is attempting to give an opportunity to all participants to play in a league where the caliber of hockey is equal to their ability and provides a wholesome environment and experience for personal growth and team play.
